The behavior consultation takes place at your home to allow observation of your pet's behavior in its own environment, without the distractions of a busy veterinary clinic. Combining first hand observation with a careful study of the history form you have completed, Dr. Derr's interpretation of your pet's actions will help you understand why it is misbehaving.
She will then discuss ways to control the problem using behavior modification and environmental management, tailored to your household. She may also discuss the pros and cons of using medication for your pet's problem. (If medication is indicated, it will be dispensed with the full knowledge of your own veterinarian.)
The behavior modification plan will be tailored to your individual pet, and a full case write up will be sent to you and your vet. The consultation fee includes phone and email follow-up for 6 months after the date of the original consultation, and a follow up visit if necessary. Additional follow up visits will incur a recheck fee.
